Druva provides SaaS-based data protection and management products for companies and government agencies. Druva products aggregate enterprise data from endpoints, data center, and cloud workloads for backup and restore, compliance monitoring, security, and other uses.

It was back in 2008 that Milind Borate, Jaspreet Singh and Ramani Kothandaraman set out to create a new kind of data protection solution for the enterprise. Prior to co-founding Druva, Milind worked at Veritas Software as Technical Director for SAN-FS and served on the board of the Veritas patent filter committee. Milind was the one who encouraged Jaspreet to join Veritas. Ramani was also with Veritas. Soon, they both got the itch to take up something more challenging and start up. The trio had been with corporates and knew the gaps that existed in the corporate data and security area. This is what gave them the push to start up Druva in Pune. In Sanskrit, “druva” translates to “North Star”. Druva started by providing solutions for data protection and management for laptops. Druva focused on providing data management software to financial companies before shifting to focus on general enterprise data management.

In its journey of over a decade, Druva has emerged as a leader in the cloud data protection and management industry and it is headquartered in Sunnyvale, California. Today, Druva offers end-to-end data protection to its customers by providing services like data recovery, data migration, ransomware protection, and cloud backup on demand. Its customers include marquee names such as NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration), DHL, Marriott, and Carlsberg. Druva acquired Letterkenny-based CloudRanger, a back-up and disaster recovery company, in 2018. In 2019, Druva acquired CloudLanes to supplement its on-premises to cloud performance.
