Some interesting facts:

In the interest of consumers and to reduce e-waste, mobile device companies in India will have to give USB Type-C as the standard charging port in their products by March 2025. On January 2023, Bureau of Indian Standards(BIS) has published Indian standard IS/IEC 62680-1-3:2022 USB Type-C Cable and Connector Specification. This Indian standard is the adoption of the existing International standard IEC 62680-1-3:2022. The European Union is mandating USB-C chargers for all electronics in its regions. As of December 28, 2024, all new phones, tablets, headphones, portable speakers, and many other types of devices will have to use this standard for wired charging. But, not everyone is happy with USB-C chargers. Apple vs EU. Apple, meanwhile, argues that switching from Lightning to USB-C will produce more e-waste since over a billion Apple devices are on the old cable now. Also, according to Apple, forcing manufacturers to use USB-C stifles innovation, takes away design freedom, and hurts the overall capabilities of engineers.
