I want the guidelines of NIXI to encourage .IN domain investment. On the other side, I also support certain restrictions that protect certain unwanted activities. I mentioned all these things in an email sent to NIXI registry.
Why should NIXI has to encourage more .IN domain name investment?
- For any business, a domain name is an asset like a property. Online is the new real estate.
- Less .IN registration, less .IN visibility on the internet. It will become less popular among consumers too.
- Lesser .IN domain registration, lesser revenue of NIXI. In the future, .IN domain price may be hiked to offset NIXI’s revenue or employees at NIXI, will lose their jobs. Higher .IN fees, again less registration.
- Issue of unusable registered domain names or issue of dummy registrants isn’t just limited to .IN domain extension. These scenarios also exist in other most popular and reputed domain extensions.
- India is the world’s largest populous and the 2nd largest Internet consumer country. Still, our .IN domain extension isn’t in the world’s top 10 popular country-code top-level domain extensions. But, the good thing is that there will be exponential growth like we have seen in bitcoin in the past and recent few years. After that, eventually, people will also invest in .भारत domain names. The growth of Indian startups is not going to stop now.
NIXI’s policy shouldn’t be such that .IN domain growth becomes stagnant. I want NIXI policymakers to be domain investors or have knowledge or experience about that.
